I made the slide for this Wren loco by milling a slot, silver soldering a plate over and then milling a smaller slot in the cover.
The die was then made to suit but i was not happy with the fit.
My friends spark eroder cleaned out the hole to a accurate square shape and a new die was made and the fit is much better.
Although just the sides were cleaned up the eroder could have easily made the complete cut.
The Wren design is by Malcolm Wright and plans were published in Engineering in Miniature. Malcolm is a manufacture of small scale locos and rolling stock web site http://wrightscale.co.uk/
