순천,선암사,선암매,Suncheon, Seonamsa, Seonam Mae,

2007년 11월 26일 천연기념물로 지정되었다. 선암사의 원통전 담장 뒤에서 자라는 토종매실나무이다. 수령은 600여 년 정도로 알려져 있다. 나무높이 8m, 밑둥기둘레 1.2m이며, 수관은 동서 13m, 남북 13로 생육상태가 좋고 넓게 퍼진 가지가 특히 아름답다. 꽃의 색이 유난히 붉고 향이 짙기로 이름나 있다. 선암사 어느 전각인가의 상량문에 이 매실나무와 관련된 것으로 보이는 기록이 남아 있어 역사적 학술적 가치가 큰 나무이다. 순천시가 관리한다.

It was designated as a natural monument on November 26, 2007. It is a native plum tree that grows behind the wall of the Won-tong-jeon Hall of Seonamsa Temple. It is known to be about 600 years old. The tree is 8m tall, has a trunk circumference of 1.2m, and the crown is 13m east-west and 13m north-south. It is in good condition and its widely spread branches are especially beautiful. It is famous for its unusually red flowers and strong fragrance. There is a record related to this plum tree on the ridgepole inscription of one of the Seonamsa temple buildings, so it is a tree with great historical and academic value. It is managed by Suncheon City.
