Aztec/Tenochtitlan Inspired City - Part 1: Sacred Precinct, Royal Palace, & Zoo

Hey y'all welcome back! Today's video will have us finally get started on the Tenochtitlan Inspired City, which won 2nd in my poll a few months back. Part 1 of this build consists of interpretations of the Sacred Precinct, Montezuma's Royal Palace, and Montezuma's Zoo.

Background:

Xochititlan's origins are as unique as they are mythical. The founders of the city are said to have discovered a beautiful island at the center of a lake, upon which stood a mound of unique flowers which had never been seen before. The unprecedented healing properties of the newly discovered flower breathed life into the settlement, setting a precedent for health and prosperity unmatched anywhere else in the world, allowing the city's inhabitants to go on to demonstrate remarkable engineering ingenuity. Over the last few centuries, they expanded the city with man-made islands to encompass almost the entirety of the lake's expanse, all while preserving the natural allure of the landscape. Canals of clean water cut like roads through the city, nurturing the lush floating gardens that dot the water's surface. This harmonious integration of urban expansion and natural preservation has become the hallmark of Xochititlan's identity, captivating visitors and residents alike with its ethereal beauty.

At the heart of Xochititlan lies the Sacred Precinct, a hallowed ground where the city's cultural heritage thrives. Towering temples dedicated to the major gods and their respective elements of Clouds and Water, Sun and Fire, Air and Earth, dominate the public square, their majestic pyramids reaching towards the heavens. Here the faithful pay homage to the deities who watch over their city by sacrificing an object or connection that is important to them. Yet, the precinct is not solely the domain of the divine; it is also a bastion of learning and recreation. The esteemed Calmecac educates the city's elite, while the bustling ballcourt hosts spirited games that unite the populace in joyous celebration.

The Royal Palace stands as a testament to the opulence and refinement of Xochititlan's ruling family. A sprawling complex of grandeur and grace, its halls and courtyards are adorned with the vibrant hues of blooming flowers, their fragrant scent permeating the air. Here, amidst the tranquil embrace of nature, the royal family and their closest allies reside, their every comfort attended to by a retinue of devoted servants. Within these walls, power and prestige intertwine with tranquility and beauty, creating a sanctuary fit for monarchs and nobles alike. Just north of the Royal Palace lies a realm of wonder and delight: the City Zoo, a gift from the royal family to their subjects. From the mist-shrouded wetlands to the verdant depths of the jungle, and the sun-dappled expanses of the shrublands, the zoo offers a glimpse into landscapes and fauna both near and far.
