Here is the basic process I use to wet-sand the French-polished finish, using Micromesh 3600 wrapped around an Artgum eraser block, and mineral spirits/olive oil as the lubricant.
I am using a method of French polishing which I learned from Tom Bills. a luthier who builds beautifully French-polished guitars.
