Rediscovering Rhythm | The Pocket Loft – Episode 1

I’m Ebony Rainford-Brent, and this is the start of my new drumming journey. After years away from the kit, I’m diving back into rhythm, creativity, and musicianship — and documenting every step inside The Pocket Loft.

In Episode 1, I head to Broadway Avenues to meet my friend Worldwide Chris, a professional drummer and engineer, for my first ever proper studio recording session. He puts me through my first “grading” on Spanish Joint – D’Angelo (played by Questlove) and gives me a raw assessment of where my playing truly sits.

This series will follow the full process:
• rebuilding technique
• pushing BPM & control
• upgrading my kit to hybrid
• recording monthly tracks
• and reconnecting with the music that shaped me
