Even the most powerful wizards fear these faceless beings and beg them for mercy. They feed on emotions, leaving their victims nothing but empty, apathetic shells.

Where they arise, suffering and ruin are never far behind. Where screams of pain and anguish once echoed through the air, where death and decay reigned, they sprout from the ground like rotting mushrooms. There are only a few known locations of these birthplaces of merciless demons – or, more accurately, only a few places one would dare to explore. So much horror has occurred there that the dark energy can still be felt today.

Only a few tormented souls – so the stories say – have found the way to the heavens. The others, these battered spirits, still wander these places, trapped in an endless time loop, reliving their suffering over and over. It is said that one can hear their screams of pain and torment, their whispers, their mutterings – even today in the corrupted forests of Fetid Hollow.

Here, the Dementors thrive. Here, these shadowy figures are born. They relish the desperate cries. They crave the fetid stench of decay that hangs in the mist above the trees. It fuels their hunger for suffering and drives them out into the world.

Welcome to the cradle of the Night Watchers. Welcome to the realm of the Dementors.
