Everyone loves to play video games! Even better, everyone loves to play video games with others! What could be better than that? How about playing multiplayer games with others and the Mario Party series of games is no exception (even if it did ruin friendships at the end of the day, JUST LIKE MONOPOLY!!!) Anyway, it's always fun to play with friends but I didn't really have many IRL friends at the time to play these Mario Party games, so I usually played against 3 CPU players instead... But have you ever wondered what would've happened if the entire game was played by 4 CPU players instead? Enter Mario Party: A.I. Stupidstardumb (previously known as A.I. Superstardumb).
Taking a page (or two) from Smight's Arcade Pit (specifically one segment in the Arcade Pit called A.I. Arena), I put 4 CPU players against each other to see who would win while set on Hard Difficulty. Now for the most part, they perform exactly as you would expect (if you know how to play the minigames in Mario Party 1, 2 and/or 3, the CPU isn't an unstoppable machine yet isn't push over at the same time). Notice how I said "for the MOST part", every once in a while you'll see the CPU players doing something so stupid, so idiotic, so mind-numbingly dumb that you just can't help but yell at them for messing up something so simple like following an arrow to find the buried treasure, or simply roll the dice and buy the star, so on and so forth.
Anyway, in this first part (aside from the obvious explanation of how these sets of highlights will play out), from the first 8 streams I did of this from Mario Party 1, Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3, we look at some hilarious moments of how "Masterful A.I." somehow have the intelligence of a brick. It's also worth mentioning that Mario Party is known for testing out the waters of how a multiplayer party game should play out (and stick spinning... lots and LOTS of stick spinning). Mario Party 2 is basically Mario Party 1 ver. 2.0, only with the exception of the last board of the game (Bowser Land), everyone wears costumes based on what board they play on (Pirate Land, Horror Land, etc.) Mario Party 3 starts to introduce new minigames to play out in as well as adding Princess Daisy and Waluigi into the mix of playable characters. If I'm able to get a steady emulation of Gamecube (and maybe Nintendo Wii) to work properly, maybe in the future I'll add the other Mario Party games into the mix and see how well/poorly the A.I. plays out in those games. But for right now, enjoy!
