One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormEunice Over 80mph winds battering nouthern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Eurowing Airbus A319 (OB-LYW) flight EW4220 from Prague, was scheduled to arrive at 13:35 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 30 minutes. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a "sudden gust of wind". Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately.
We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident.
