Riverside Drive Park is a 3-acre Reno park. The park is located along the Truckee River and offers access to the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail.
Riverside Drive Park in Reno, Nevada, has a rich history tied to the development of Reno and the Truckee River. Originally named Riverside Avenue, it was envisioned as a beautiful boulevard with views of the river, and its creation is linked to the "most fashionable driveway in the county," according to founder C.C. Powning. The area became a desirable place for early Reno residents.
The area along Riverside Drive became a popular destination for Reno's early movers and shakers, as part of C.C. Powning's development, called Powning's Addition.
The former McKinley Park School now houses the McKinley Arts & Culture Center, which offers gallery spaces, workshops, and office space for local arts organizations.
In 1902, one of those sites became McKinley Park, named for the nation's 25th president, William McKinley, who was assassinated in 1901.
