Webinar Description: This webinar on FEMA P-2012, Assessing Seismic Performance of Buildings with Configuration Irregularities, will explain how structural irregularities influence seismic building performance. The impact of irregularities will be described in terms of collapse probability, the measure of performance used in the FEMA P-2012 studies to assess the effectiveness of current code provisions. The webinar will describe recommendations to improve consistency of seismic performance across all configuration types in the building code. Many of the recommendations from FEMA P-2012 influenced changes that were incorporated into ASCE/SEI 7-22.

Webinar Presenter: Mike Valley, P.E., S.E., is a Principal at Magnusson Klemencic Associates. He was Project Technical Director for the development of the FEMA P-2012 report. Mike has over 30 years of experience managing complex projects involving new construction and renovation. He brings special expertise in seismic and foundation analysis and design, and he has been a key participant in the U.S. development of performance-based seismic design approaches. Mike frequently serves on committees and advisory panels to develop and write national engineering codes, standards, and guidelines. Mike was named "Engineer of the Year" by the Seattle Chapter of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington in 2007, and he received the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations’ James M. Delahay Award in 2008.
