In this video, Ty and Sam demonstrate some basic yet helpful functions of Nanome. After completing this advanced tutorial, you will know how to customize avatars, use the wrist menu, load a molecule, and more.
0:03 Nanome Avatars
Every user in Nanome is represented by an avatar. You can tell avatars apart by different colors and name labels above their heads. You can also see a voice indicator. Green indicates talking and red indicates muted. Avatars have a wristwatch and a wrist menu.
0:41 Wrist Menu - Overview
The wrist menu is one of the more important menus in Nanome. You can undo and redo changes to the environment that you’ve made such as making a change in a molecule. You can navigate through different settings, change room configurations, manage your menus, or quickly access specific menus you’d like to use.
1:02 Wrist Menu - Left Side Menu
The top icon on the left side menu is the “camera” icon. You can take photos and email them to your colleagues. The second from the top icon on the left side menu is the “request presenter” icon. Click this icon to request presenter mode. The third from the top icon on the left side menu is the “spatial recording” icon. Click this icon to record a video inside Nanome. The bottom icon on the left side menu is the “grid lock” icon. If your menus are scattered all over the place, click this icon to organize them.
1:42 Wrist Menu - Center Menu
Quick Menus: Access all primary menus like the “Entry List.”
Settings: Turn on/off controller vibration, notifications, microphone, sound, and disable/enable tooltips. In advanced settings, you can change the sky color, adjust voice chat volume, and music volume.
Room: Here you can exit Nanome, return to the lobby, view a list of presenter requests in the room, and manage users.
3:33 How to Load a Molecule
In the “Entry List” menu, Ty clicks the “Load” button, then “Featured” tab, and selects a benzene ring.
3:55 How to Select a Molecule
Next, Ty enlarges the benzene ring and shows how to select it via the “Entry List” menu and using the “Selector” tool. To quickly deselect everything, point your finger to the sky and click with your index finger.
4:40 Action Menu
The “Action Menu'' is private. Other users can’t see it. To access this menu, click the top right button, the Y button, on your left controller. In this menu, you can steal and pass the presenter role without requesting it. You can also hide users or change configurations for guests like disable their laser pointers or prevent them from teleporting.
