“When You Apologize (Demo)” from Hazbin Hotel Cast Sing Along panel at Summer SacAnime 2014

Sam Haft shares an unreleased demo song for our listening pleasure of “When You Apologize,” the first draft of the song that he sang (doing all the parts of Charlie, Pentious, Angel, and Vaggie) and recorded that would eventually evolve into “It Starts With Sorry.” I didn’t film most of the intro but he stressed that this song “really wasn’t good” and got the scene and show wrong and when he presented it to Vivienne, her exact response was “Oh that’s nice, but it’s…wrong..” lol . The reasoning is the scene was supposed to be sincere with a touch of silliness but this first draft was too much full complete silly. I tend to agree as that scene with Pentious was a pretty touching scene of love, forgiveness, and repentance that was the basic message of Hazbin Hotel for me and while this demo is pretty funny, I agree with Sam Haft it wouldn’t have fit as well as “It Starts With Sorry” imho . Anyway , here it is! Hope Sam shows us more of these fun demos and bts stuff in the future, we Hazbin fans really appreciate it! As part of an album perhaps ? :D He was a great host for this panel and he explained a lot of stuff of the creative song process really well so it was super informative as a fan but also super wild and crazy fun singing along with everyone. I’ll never ever forget it!
