How To Install A Peephole In A Door (Make Your Home Safer With This DIY Home Security Upgrade!)

Want to see who’s knocking before you open the door? In this video, I’ll show you how to install a peephole (also called a door viewer) in your front door. It’s a simple home security upgrade that doesn’t take much time, and it makes a big difference in peace of mind. If you’re into quick DIY projects that actually make your home safer, this is a great one to knock out.

I'll walk you through the steps I took to install the peephole in my front door. You'll see a couple of my mistakes, so you can hopefully avoid them when installing a peephole in your door. In mine, a tiny piece of the door broke away while I was drilling. If you ensure you have a sharp, spade drill bit, and a fully charged, fast drill, you should be able to avoid this. I think I drilled a bit too slow initially, and I should have drilled a little from each side to meet in the middle. So learn from my mistakes!
