Alternative rock: a vague music category that encompasses post-punk, jangle pop, power pop, punk, metal, and most other rock that felt at least vaguely non-commercial in the 80's or after.

I have complaints to file about this genre name, yet some of my favourite bands of all time are considered pioneers of alternative! So join me in exploring the early history of alternative rock, and diving into a set of vital and immaculate albums that would impact the sound of rock forever.
