Watch this video demonstrating a new technology for producing atmospheric water using a new superabsorbent polymer (SAP) discovered by the Granado Institute in Brazil.
This SAP has the capacity to adsorb up to 80% of its weight in water from the air in humidity conditions greater than 30% and perform thermal desorption between 50oC and 80oC using photovoltaic or thermal solar energy. The polymer is formed into plates, called "Hydrocells". The arrangement of "Hydrocells" forms "Hydrobatteries", which can produce the desired amount of water. The equipment presented here is called "HIDROGER" and has "Hydrobatteries" with 25 "Hydrocells" and can produce 8L of water per solar cycle of 8 to 10 hours. At night, when atmospheric humidity is higher, the "Hydrobatteries" store water to be produced during the day.
