Got to love stormy Ventnor...

A mash-up of various stormy videos, plus a cheeky clip from the IslandEcho's drone footage of the recent landslip at the aptly-named The Landslip....

The Undercliff, forming the south-east coastline of the Isle of Wight, is Europe's largest urbanised rotational landslip. That basically means it's a huge jumble of extremely unstable spoil, and we plonked a load of houses on top of the chaos. For some reason, this landslip is slipping towards the sea. It's not as exposed to the full-force of autumn and winter gales as it might be: St Catherine's Point kind of protects us from the worst sou' westers. But is does get blustery. Those turbulent seas gnaw away at the coastline and, as they do so, they pull away the toe of the cliffs, causing the slippages to be activated and the terraces to slip and crumble, along with those houses and various roads. Add to that the ingress of water from inland via innumerable subterranean vents, springs and seepages, and well..........all-in-all, not the best place to stick a town. But we do love it here.
