TOMICA BMW 3.5 CSL custom

Customising a Tomica F30 BMW 3.5 CSL, in the Foreign Tomica range from 1977.

Tomica's BMW 3.5 CSL replicates the last in the line of the iconic original BMW CSL. Identifiable by its long, low slung rear wing, the 3.5 is BMW's 1976 entry into Group 5 for the World Championship for Makes in sports car racing. It saw outings at Le Mans, the European Touring Car Championship, and the IMSA GT Championship over in the US.

I turned to the ever reliable Le Mans Decals for this replica set of BMW's only factory-backed finisher in the 1976 24 Hours of Le Mans. What I like about the Alpina-Faltz number 42 car is its black body and BMW Motorsport light blue, dark blue and red stripe livery. They really pop and teamed with a set of Creative One64 BBS wheels, it makes for a mean looking machine.

Tomica produced their model from 1977 in a few shades, namely white as mine originally was, black with the same BMW motorsport and Castrol tampos, blue with white Gitanes decals, and orange in the iconic Jägermeister livery.
