The Scottish Drift Championship 2023 - Supported by Haltech

Round 1 8th & 9th April 2023

We've just held Round 1 of SDC 2023 - supported by Haltech

What a weekend that was.

Round 1 kicked off with a competition practice session on the Saturday afternoon where drivers took to the track with the sun blazing and temperatures reaching 15c (please do remember we are in Scotland and it is only April!!).

Drivers adjusted to the track conditions very quickly and even just in the practice session we could see the driver commitment and skill was evident.

The vibe in the pits was electric as the drivers packed up for the evening eagerly awaiting competition day the next day.

Sunday morning with staff on site from 7am and gates opening for drivers at 7.30am already there was tension in the air.

Competition day was here.

Firstly though into the drivers briefing where what was required from the drivers and their cars was advised by the judges.

Next up all drivers with their cars were invited onto the track for group photos and individual photos before the competition started.

9.30am let the games begin.

Practice session again, which was more intense than the day before. With drivers dialling in the competition line and practising lead and chase lines over and over again. Seat time was in abundance.

During Practice we also invite all drivers to the judging area to ask for advice, ask judges to watch them and advise of any do's and don'ts.

Qualifying begins with all drivers being given 2 qualifying runs.

Today we through into the mix an extra qualifying run. Qualifying run 3. Drivers came in and were given their qualifying position after having done 2 qualifying runs. They were then told that they could go out and run a 3rd qualifying run, just to through a spanner in the works. The best score out of the 3 would count in the table!!!!!


Drivers loved the addition of the 3rd qualifier opportunity. It meant that knowing that they had already qualified, they could through caution to the wind and go for that epic, potential 99 point run!!!!!!

The spectators loved it and we hadn't even started battles yet.

Onto battles, what can we say. Amazing, epic, jaw dropping and just absolutely astounding. We could go on and on.

Well done to everyone who played their part in this fantastic SDC 2023 Rd 1 championship opener.
