Dr. Michaels received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder, then went on to do her doctoral work in Anatomy and Neurobiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School in the Twin Cities and postdoctoral studies in Molecular Biophysics at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She currently serves as the Associate Dean of Student Life and Academic Affairs at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth Campus where she oversees the Offices of Student Affairs and Admissions.
