Gibson Super 400 Sunburst 1980 & CES Master Model 1992 played by Berend Rombouts & Tom Punt | Demo

The Gibson Super 400 was introduced in 1934 as the largest and most advanced archtop in the Gibson line. The electric Super 400 CES followed in 1951 and remained Gibson's flagship archtop guitar for decades. It is also a very influential guitar model that inspired many master luthier (including Elmer Stromberg and John D'Angelico).

However, this particular Super 400 was built by Gibson's own Master Builders in 1992 and features the signed 'Master Model' labels in the body. Speaking of the body, the back and sides are made of beautiful flamed maple, while the spruce top is adorned with gold hardware and two humbuckers. The engraved 'Super 400' on the tailpiece clearly shows which guitar this is, and together with the beautiful inlays on both the fingerboard and the headstock, demonstrate the beauty of Gibson's top model.

The sound of this instrument is simply exceptional: clear, warm and deeply resonant. Perfect for jazz, but this guitar can also get quite bluesy. The beautiful appearance of the guitar completes the experience surrounding this guitar, and makes this Super 400 a true masterpiece.

The guitar has light playwear on the top and the back of the body, as well as very light crackle in the lacquer around the neck joint, the f-hole on the bass side and the back of the headstock. However, the guitar is very clean, and plays and sounds phenomenal! The guitar is supplied with TFOA passport in the original Gibson hardshell case.
