If you're searching for a true escape into nature — quiet, refined, and soul-soothing — Hakone Gora Karaku is a hidden treasure. Unlike the busier, tourist-heavy areas like Hakone Yumoto, Gora offers a quieter, more intimate side of Hakone that I personally prefer. Here, you can fully absorb the surrounding beauty without the bustle of crowds or noisy visitors.
Hakone Gora Karaku is perfectly designed for those who genuinely want to relax and reconnect with nature. One of the distinctive things about this hotel is its approach to private luxury: the private baths and the tasting menu dinners are not automatically included — they are an additional charge. That means only those who truly want the experience will have it, making it feel more exclusive and less chaotic. It’s not a resort for everyone — it’s for those who truly appreciate peace, privacy, and authentic indulgence.
For all guests, the public baths on the top floor offer a serene experience, with both indoor and outdoor options, overlooking the landscape. (Out of respect for privacy, I didn't film there.) But the real highlight is the three private mineral baths — an absolute must. You can literally feel the healing qualities of the natural mineral water seeping into your skin. Each bath offers a personal, calming sanctuary that feels almost sacred.
The food experience here is exceptional — comparable to Michelin-starred restaurants, crafted with precision, beauty, and deep seasonal flavors. The service matches the cuisine: thoughtful, attentive, and warm without being overbearing.
Hakone Gora Karaku isn’t a place for sightseeing marathons or social gatherings — it’s a place to truly rest your body, quiet your mind, and immerse yourself in nature’s luxury.
