Before the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex and its relatives ruled the Mesozoic world's last act, Earth's top predators were the Carcharodontosaurids. These huge carnivores, named for their distinctive shark-like teeth, populated much of the world across the Early Cretaceous. They ranged in size from the three metres, or nine points eight-foot long Lajasvenator to the colossal, thirteen metres, or forty-two points six-foot long Giganotosaurus.
