Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits
INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ cup butter, COLD
1 cup buttermilk, COLD
1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
TOPPING
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves
½ teaspoon garlic powder
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic and onion powder, and salt.
3. Using a pastry blender, cut in the cold butter until it’s finely mixed.
4. Add the buttermilk and knead just until fully combined then mix in the cheddar.
5. On a floured surface, press the dough into a rectangle and roll down to about 1 inch thick.
6. Using a round cutter, cut out circles and place them on the parchment lined baking sheet.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
8. Combine the melted garlic, parsley and garlic powder and brush the tops of the warm biscuits. Serve immediately!
