USING A VEHICLE RECOVERY BOLT FOR A STUCK CAR

In San Luis Pass, Texas, a car was stuck in the sand. Many times it is hard to connect to certain vehicles to aid them in off road recovery. One way, is by connecting to a tow bolt which is screwed in to the car frame though an access port in the rear of the car. This video will show you how we used this tow bolt. We used a kinetic rope to tow the vehicle out which allows for a smoother recovery without jerking the recovery vehicle. In this recovery, a slow pull was adequate to rescue the stuck vehicle. We use a Yankum Kinetic Rope and have always found these ropes to be very effective. We also use soft shackles versus the metal D-Ring (Shackles) to minimize metal in the system. This is safer and eliminates the possibility for metal projectiles.
Communication with the driver is key with any type of recovery. Having the driver understand our signals was also important. 3 blasts of the horn meant we were starting the pull and we needed the driver to be in "drive" and move forward. 2 blasts of the horn at the end of the pull meant we were coming to a stop or the recovery vehicle using the horn if they need to stop.
Soft stand can make any vehicle the victim. We have pulled out multiple 4X4 vehicles in similar situations that also became stuck in these soft sands. Please visit other John's Jeep Garage Off-Road Recovery videos on our channel. • HOW DEEP IS THAT WATER HOLE
All Off-Road Recovery must be performed by experienced individuals. SAFETY is the priority. The methods, tools, connection points and condition of equipment must be understood to minimize damage to vehicles and safety of others.
For this video, we are part of volunteer recovery groups supporting the Texas coast and Galveston County. SAFETY is critical. Maintaining recovery equipment properly, knowing the risks and operating in a safe manner is vital. See our other video on Rescue & Recovery basics including standard tools we use.
Please use caution and understand the risks when off-roading, during recoveries and working on your vehicle. Use a professional service provider when necessary. Subscribe to our Channel for more Jeep modifications and maintenance tips.
