My First Time In MALDON In Essex! Is It Worth A Visit?!

Welcome back dear friends. In today’s episode I am in the charming town of Maldon in Essex, an exciting destination located just 9 miles from the busy city of Chelmsford. In this 4K walking tour I’ll be taking you along the banks of the Blackwater estuary and through the town as I explore all there is to see and do. If you’re looking for a picturesque landscapes of sky and saltmarsh, cosy pubs and history, this is the place to go this Spring!  
 
Walk with me through the famous Promenade Park with it’s family friendly activities like the Splash Park, small animal zoo and adventure golf, I make my way to the banks of the River Blackwater where there’s a boating lake, yacht club and the landmark statue of  Byrhtnoth, honoured for his courage in the historic Battle of Maldon against the Vikings.  At this point there’s also views towards Northey Island and Heybridge Basin, but is also the location for the world famous annual Maldon Mud Race! I check out the incredible Thames Sailing Barges at Hythe Quay which is where you can also go on boat trips.  As usual I get some good bean-to-cup coffee at one of the many places to eat and drink before venturing into the high street, with both commercial and independent shops but also some spectacular churches and very old buildings, including Moot Hall and The Blue Boar.  Finally, no trip would be complete without some food and a beer at one of Maldon’s excellent pubs. 
 
Perfect for a short break or day out, or even a dog walk, come and see whether the ancient town of Maldon is one of the best places to visit in Essex this summer.
