During her teenage years, Cricket worked as a medical assistant at a doctor’s office. She had a persistent cough for months, and after her coworkers urged her to get tested, her boss diagnosed her with Stage-4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Following chemotherapy, her lymphoma went into remission - but Cricket began experiencing frequent fainting episodes. She would have to lie down wherever she was, and assumed it was normal. The reluctance to get tested was partly due to fear of doctors and difficult experiences with treatment. Eventually, when a coworker called 911 during one of these episodes, testing revealed that Cricket was living with breast cancer caused by prior radiation. Today, she advocates for women’s health at every stage of treatment and is deeply interested in UCLA’s Cardio-Oncology program.
