A high quality non ED glass binoculars with dielectric prisms can in many occasions give a brighter image than some ED binoculars with more standard silver coated prisms. The Hawke HDx series are a great example of this.
Maybe in years to come, dielectric coated prisms will become standard for many binoculars and scopes.
