In this Part 8 of the Anesthesia Machine Series, we demonstrate the Morning Pre-Use Machine Test on a modern Dräger anesthesia workstation, a critical safety step before starting any OT list.
You will learn how to check for leaks, verify flow accuracy, and confirm the readiness of the breathing system.
We then explain the HME (Heat & Moisture Exchanger) filter
its purpose, placement, and why it is essential for maintaining humidity, preventing heat loss, and reducing infection risk.
Finally, we discuss the safety mechanisms of anesthetic gases, including N₂O fail-safe systems, pin index safety system (PISS), color coding, and pressure-related protections.
This video is highly recommended for Anesthesia Technologists, OTT students, Biomedical Engineering students, and anyone working in the operating room.
