City of Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. At about 0230 Engine 82 was dispatched for a smoke investigation. while responding fire board advised them that they were filling out the box for a church fire in the 500 block of east 9th. The Box consists of 2 engines 1 truck, 9 firemen and a battalion chief. PD on location reporting a working fire. E82 went on location with a large church 200x200 heavy fire showing in the rear. Chester arrived and requested a 2nd alarm. the attack was exterior from the beginning. The fire quickly spread throughout the church and required 2 additional alarms. At the height of the fire 7 elevated master streams, and several truck mounted and portable deluge guns were in service. The church which was built in the 1800's was no longer in use as a church and was vacant at the time of the fire. Crews were on scene well into the morning.
