Sony Cinematic 4K Timelapse | Sony a7iv & a7siii | Meteor Chase

While not as brilliant as the some of the other meteor showers, the North and South Taurus along with the Leonids offered a great justification to get out the last few weekends and spends some time under the stars.

Loveland Pass is such an easy spot to get to. A few minutes worth of hiking, even if in the middle of the night brings a rugged and immense scene into view. I did hike down to go rest in the 4Runner, and get out of the wind, but the conditions were good enough for three hours of shooting.

South Park offers more variety, from 12,000 vistas to the meandering forks of the South Platte, it was great to find open water for reflections oaf the passing night sky. It was below freezing this particular night and you can watch how the passing water freezes and the spinning stars lose their reflections.

The area east of Kiowa, though not as dark has so many beautiful, dilapidated homesteads, that finding an interesting foreground subject only takes a bit of scouting and planning.

Finally the valley south of Westcliffe offers some the states darkest skies and it was the perfect spot to end my chase of these three, meteor showers. I'm looking forward to the Gemini's in December, I just need to decide which location will offer the best opportunity - just a few years ago this was up on Juniper Pass, maybe it will be again this year!

Watch for the brightest meteor I've ever captured, in the final clip - it was so bright I thought it was a truck pulling out on to the road behind me?!
