Make Your Garment Look FLAWLESS with This Bias Tape Trick

Bias binding is one of the best tools to create clean necklines and armholes and more. But not all bias binding is made equal. Here I am demonstrating how to use home made bias tape or store bought with the double creases ironed out. This time the bias tape is visible but it is very slim and firm.

BIAS BINDING EXPLAINED
Bias binding is a narrow strip of fabric cut on the bias (diagonally to the grain of the fabric) that's used to neatly finish raw edges of fabric. It's an essential technique in sewing that provides both functional and decorative benefits.

WHAT MAKES IT 'BIAS'
When fabric is cut on the bias (at a 45-degree angle to the selvage), it gains significant stretch and flexibility. This stretchiness allows the binding to:
Smoothly navigate curves and corners
Lie flat against the fabric without puckering
Create a clean, professional finish

COMMON USES FOR BIAS BINDING
Finishing necklines, armholes, and hems on garments
Binding quilt edges
Finishing seams inside garments for a clean look
Creating decorative trims and accents
Finishing curved edges that would be difficult to hem traditionally

TYPES OF BIAS BINDING
1. Single-fold bias tape: Folded once down the middle
2. Double-fold bias tape: Folded once down the middle, then the edges folded in toward the center crease
3. Homemade bias binding: Custom-cut from fabric to match or contrast with your project
4. Pre-packaged bias tape: Commercially available in various widths and colors
