Episode 7-Into China (Part 6)
23rd June.
Drove from Pingyao to Xinzhou (north central of Shanxi Province). It was a 6 hour’ drive of scenic mountain view.
24th June- Drove to Zhangjiakou (northwestern Hebei Province) Distance drove was 398 km which took us more then 4 hours. We had encountered an unofficial roadblock set up by the locals. It is one of the draw backs of using the back roads. We had to back track and detour which took several hours.
26th June- drove to Tongzhou district in Beijing. We had planned to spend 3 nights here for sightseeing, doing chores, and resting. I had the chance to visit the Forbidden City which was one of the places I wanted to visit for a very long time.
