[Genshin Impact] False Moon Institute IV - Guaranteed Units Only

This is the boss fight available after Nod-Krai's eighth Archon quest.

The Heretic of the False Moon may wield formidable power using the three Moon Marrows, but his eagerness to use unique tricks turns against him. Make the most of the opportunities the Doctor's mechanics end up granting you and punish his hubris.


The Doctor begins the fight by gaining massive defenses, dropping three Moon Fragments down before charging up to unleash an arena-wide blast. Stand behind a Moon Fragment (denoted by the circuit-like floors) to be safe from this blast. While standing in a Moon Fragment's safe zone, party members will rapidly recover energy - you'll likely have all of your Bursts back by the time this attack is over.

If the Doctor unleashes several vertical Electro lasers from his position, he may deploy drones that will strike a marked zone two separate times after delays. There's a substantial wait prior to each drone strike, so try to attack the Doctor in the meantime. Consider baiting the zones away from the Doctor so they can't get in your way.

The other attack the Doctor may use after the vertical Electro lasers is to perform a wide Cryo slash that must be dashed or backed away from, followed by an array of drones in front of him to fire multiple Hydro beams forward - get to the side of the targeted region.

If the Doctor moves to the side while creating a blue circuit behind him, numerous lasers will be fired from the circuit from right to left. Move alongside with the Doctor to get out of range. The Doctor will follow this up with one of two attacks. He will either use the aforementioned Hydro beam array, or summon an Electro javelin that will be thrown at your position (dash in time with the javelin nearing the ground). This Electro javelin may be separately used, possibly starting an attack chain itself - a possible Cryo slash and the Hydro beam array can follow it in this case.

If the Doctor summons a Moon Replica Shade (the blue entity with two blades), it will teleport to align itself with you before performing two spinning slashes forwards. Dash horizontally away from the Doctor to misdirect the Shade's teleport, making its spin attacks whiff.

If the Doctor calls upon entropy and creates a blue field above him, numerous energy blasts will rain down onto the battlefield onto targeted zones. Several of these will target your current location, so keep moving. Remember where the blasts fell - after some time, the Doctor will reverse the attack and the blasts will rise back up from where they fell. This will end with a massive energy blast centered around the Doctor - get far away from the Doctor, or time a dash or Elemental Burst to the final blast.

At intervals, the Doctor will summon three Moonwither Zones if none currently exist on the battlefield. These Zones will slowly expand over time, and will slow your movement while you stand in them. These Zones will emit Cryo shockwaves on the ground that increase in range, frequency, and power over time. Some time after the Zones form, a rift will appear in the Zones. Enter this rift to enter a separate dimension, revealing three Moon Replica Shades controlling the Zones. Defeat these Shades to delete the Zones and harm the Doctor. Defeating a Shade will refresh the cooldowns of your party's Elemental Skills, so be liberal with your ability usage.

Vertical lasers will frequently spawn in this Moonwither dimension, moving in a straight line path toward where you were standing when the laser spawned. Change positions as necessary to avoid disruptions. There is also an exit portal you can use to leave the Moonwither dimension at any time, but any remaining Shades will have their Zones persist. It is generally in your best interest to defeat all three Shades each time you enter the Moonwither dimension.

The Doctor can use the Moon Marrows to temporarily establish a rule. He may either reverse your movement controls, forbid you from moving (attacking is allowed if it doesn't move you significantly), or forbid you from looking at him (referring to the direction your character is looking, not your camera). These rules only take place after a bit of a delay - mind this in the case of the reversed controls. If you violate his movement or looking rules, he will take away all of your party's Elemental Energy and attempt to target you with a zone that must be dashed out of. Comply with his rules (or have the reversed controls end), and your party's Elemental Energy will be fully restored.

If you haven't been destroying the Moonwither Zones, the Doctor will eventually bring down 5 Moon Fragments as meteors. These strike massive areas, generally focused on a third of the outer ring of the arena. Try to stay near the center and move about as necessary, since the Doctor will use other attacks in the meantime.
