STEAMpact´s 1st Science Competition was born from a powerful idea: when young minds are given opportunity, they rise. This competition is funded through a National Geographic project and supported by Cornell University, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), and Dombaxe Agency, this initiative came to life in Cacuaco, Luanda- Angola.
At the heart of this journey is Project Comunidade Ubunye, created to bring hands-on, student-centered science education to an underserved community. Week after week, students didn’t just learn science , they experienced it. To honor this growth and share it with families, educators, and the wider community, we hosted a science competition on December 13th, 2025. Students stood proudly before an audience of more than 150 people, presenting science experiments they had designed themselves.
Three teams were awarded, but all nine groups were winners. What they shared was more than science, it was confidence, curiosity, and hope for a brighter future.
