What is the value of a memory? | Prasant Atluri | TEDxWaltham

Prasant Atluri, MD, discusses how we can choose meaningful and memorable experiences that strengthen our relationships.

Dr. Atluri spent much of his early life studying and training.  After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in Computer Systems Engineering, he became an Orthopaedic Surgeon, specializing in surgery of the upper extremity.

In this talk, Prasant discusses how the quest for elite performance may negatively impact our remembered life.  He shares the insights he has gained through a variety of adventures, ranging from fly fishing in Montana to the “Death March” in the Grand Canyon to the Global Space Balloon Challenge.  He explains how the relationship between time and memory can be leveraged to organize our remembered past.  Dr. Atluri proposes a strategy to populate our memories with memorable experiences, including our friends, family, ​and community — “effectively making them a greater part of our accessible lives.”
