Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op. 3, No. 2 is an enthralling and emotionally charged composition that exemplifies his particular romantic style. This prelude, written by Rachmaninoff when he was only 19 years old, has become one of his most recognised and cherished works.
In this prelude, Rachmaninoff's use of harmony and pianistic writing are very extraordinary. He uses lush chromaticism and rich chord progressions to create an atmosphere of tension and release.
