3 Tips for Zoom Hearings in Your Divorce and Family Law Case with Top Divorce Attorney in Atlanta

[00:00] Hi guys, it's your divorce and family law attorney, Attorney Terry S. Herron, and remember 10 videos back, when I talked about moving your case forward in a pandemic?

[00:11] Well, it's time. A lot of these cases are going to hearings at this point and what I am seeing in these hearings is just not acceptable.

[00:21] So I need to give you some tips so that your appearing at your best at the zoom hearings.

[00:30] Now, we've all seen these zoom fails and it's a big difference when you're dealing with the judge who's deciding your divorce case or your custody case.

[00:38] So the first tip, simple enough, but guys put on a shirt. Make sure you have clothing on. If I had to say this as a tip it's because I've seen it. Don't let the judge have to say, "Hey you, put a shirt on."

[00:54] Now, let's talk backgrounds. I don't care where you are just make sure that your background is presentable.

[01:02] If you're in a child custody case, you don't want to see, or you don't want your judge to actually see, beer bottles in the background. And if you're divorcing, you definitely don't want to have your boyfriend or girlfriend in your background.

[01:18] So make sure your background is acceptable.

[01:22] Here's another tip --- name your device your actual name. Now when a judge is looking into the gallery, they're seeing "iPhone," "Galaxy," "Delicious," and we want to make sure that the judge can find you because I can guarantee you, your style of case doesn't say "Delicious vs. Husband."

[01:45] So make sure that your name is there on your device when you log into your zoom hearing.

[01:52] Here's another tip -- very simple but very powerful -- make sure that you have a great internet connection. I don't want you fading out and now you're gone and you've lost your case in the middle of a testimony.

[02:08] Make sure that you have a great internet connection even if you have to connect your device with an Ethernet cable.

[02:17] Now who knows how long we will be doing zoom hearings. But listen, I want to make sure that you are prepared.

[02:25] These are just some technical tips because I see people representing themselves and making these mistakes.

[02:32] But I didn't go to law school to give you technical tips. I went to law school to defend you and to get you the best outcome in your family law case.
