This is my first attempt at a river crossing. Unfortunately Warno does not yet offer more complicated river mechanics (or maps), but I suspect that's coming. All crossing maps currently available are with formal bridges (which are indestructible). Our strategy for the crossing was to put much of the force in the center (and do it very fast), and seize the central townlet on the left side of the map early on with an air-assault of aero-infantry. To avoid destruction of the buildings (which offer excellent cover for infantry) from defending forces, we deployed heavy smoke. This turned out well, as defending infantry mostly persisted the entire match and were able to repel regular assaults of Warsaw Pact elements attempting to shuttle infantry via BMPs.

The battle of the central island was mostly spearheaded with infantry, with armor serving as close follow-on support. Armor played largely a secondary/support role in this match, mostly as "mobile artillery", taking on defensive positions, aligned to map topography/features. Mechanized infantry used mostly to seize buildings/townlets/towns that served as critical nodes for transit and "strong points" for defense.
