The best time to take TOEFL is within 7 days after your GRE exam. Actually as soon as you book your GRE date you should consider booking your TOEFL date. Why I am saying this is because, the slot for booking gets occupied and if you are thinking to take a TOEFL exam date after GRE you won’t get an immediate date. So I would recommend taking it before.
The main reason to take it within 7 days is because so that everything is fresh. See GRE vocab is extremely difficult. And if you are prepared for that then you shouldn’t be worried about TOEFL at all.
The only thing you should be worried about is that you know the format of TOEFL once. I am going to post some important links which you can check out to see the format and type of test TOEFL has.

TOEFL is actually very easy . The only thing you should worry about is scoring atleast 22 in each of the sections. Some of the university have requirements like that. For example UIUC has minimum requirement of 103/120 and I know people who had take the exam again just because there score was 1 point less than what they needed. Now obviously you can take English profficiency test at the university but why take that tension also. Just prep a little for TOEFL and everything will be fine

You should prepare for the speaking and listening section particularly because those are the different once from GRE. You can’t take it for granted that you can easily score in TOEFL.
