Greg Anthony was once quoted saying about today’s feature “he’s a once in a generation talent” when he left high school as the #1 player in the country for his position, and 2nd overall behind only Nerlens Noel. The hype surrounding Shabazz was tremendous and at that point he fully deserved it. Against that level he averaged 25 points a game as a junior and was the Gatorade player of the year. His senior season he played in the McDonald’s all American game with all the top players in the class and won the game’s MVP. Not long after he was a lottery pick in the NBA draft, even though lower than he was rated going into college, there was still a lot of expectations going to a team like the Minnesota Timberwolves, searching for their next franchise star. Before the 2016-17, he was offered an extension for 4 years 40 million dollars, which he and his team considered a low ball offer from the T-Wolves, feeling with a strong upcoming season he could command at least 20 million a year on the open market. Well a strong season didn’t happen, as the team played him slightly less minutes with Zach lavine showing promise in the shooting guard role, not to mention Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony Towns having borderline all star seasons.
