In this video, we put our 25-year-old legend to the ultimate test: a cold start in sub-freezing temperatures. The Ford F-250 equipped with the iconic 7.3L Powerstroke diesel is known for its reliability, but old age, failing starter and icy weather don’t always mix.
We quickly run into trouble as the temperature drops below freezing. To make matters worse, the starter begins to malfunction, leaving us wondering if this old workhorse has finally met its match. Watch as we troubleshoot the clicking starter and wait to see if those eight glow plugs can generate enough heat to bring this diesel back to life—or if we’re officially stranded in the cold.
