In this first of two parts, I show how repairs are made to a canal towpath where ‘wash holes’ have appeared, using aggregate/concrete filled bags to help preserve and prevent further bank erosion. A ‘wash hole’ is an area of towpath that has eroded and washed out, usually caused by passing boats. This video was filmed four years ago and is now re-published with a new introduction.
