Woodturning - Rotary Chisel and Gilt Cream

Woodturning - Texturing with a Rotary Chisel and colouring with spirit stains and gilt cream from Chestnut Products.

It's a been a while between videos, but here's my latest effort - having a play with a rotary chisel. A simple effect for the first time out, but this tool is capable of great work.

I am using one of their smaller cutters - larger ones are available but I don't have anything big enough to hold the 1/4" shaft...yet!!

Colours are Royal Blue and Blue from Chestnut Products and I also use their Silver Gilt Cream. I used ebonising lacquer as the base and Woodwax 22 as the top coat. The middle of the platter was finished with Cut 'n' Polish and Woodwax 22.

Sadly, this platter no longer exists! The colour and texture has already been turned off ready for another play...and another video!
