Makola Market, located in Accra, Ghana, was established in 1924 as the primary wholesale and retail marketplace in the city. It became a vital social and cultural institution, serving as the epicenter of trade in Ghana and a place where women, particularly from the Ga ethnic group, dominated trading activities. The market was tragically demolished in 1979, only to be rebuilt and regain its prominence Today.
The market offers a wide array of products, including fresh produce, manufactured goods, imported items, and traditional Ghanaian foods and spices.
