Let's dive into A3 problem-solving.
A3 is like your problem-solving cheat sheet on an 11x17-inch paper. Imagine two sheets from the copier stuck together. It's about documenting the problem without overwhelming anyone.
We'll use the S3 method: See, Solve, Sustain.
Meet Joe, an engineer who's late to work. Let's help him with his "Late to Work" project using A3.
Start with a header: Date, responsible person (Joe), project name ("Late to Work"), process, and team members.
In the "See" section, we contain the issue (Joe sets an early alarm) and create a clear problem statement.
We compare the expectation (Joe's boss wants him at 7 a.m.) with reality (now 75 minutes). The gap? A big 15 minutes.
Use visuals! Create a chart to show the 15-minute gap. Simple and effective.
