When it comes to almost all of the tech trends that impact our lives, the global video game industry is often the very first place many people get to see these technologies in action. This is especially true of artificial intelligence, augmented reality and virtual reality, block chain, and the biggest one is going to be the metaverse.

Video games since the 1970s have evolved along way from the blocky sprites that many of us enjoyed in our use and today’s gamers are using an exploring realistic 3-D world and interacting with hundreds and thousands of people in real time. The infant structure that has been put in place by these game developers enable the most cutting edge technology from super powered computers to ultra fast 5G and cloud networking.

The five biggest trans that we are looking at as of 2022 are as follows we have cloud gaming, virtual reality, the metaverse, block chain, esports.

If you don’t know what cloud gaming is almost all of the biggest players in the video game business are playing games through cloud-based subscription servers and this includes Google, Sony, Amazon…etc The benefit of this model is there is no need to consistently by an upgrade expensive power-hungry technology. It’s a lightweight and it’s quick.

Virtual reality gamers truly bought into this long before it even became a fashionable idea. It’s was very attractive to professionals like real estate agents, The military, even surgeons took advantage. A simple thought that someone can tour a home from the other side of the world prior to purchasing it in real time, or even being able to perform a surgery till perfection without a living human being. And then introducing it to the gaming world the potential is truly limitless. Virtual reality is said to provide some of the most exhilarating gaming experiences of the coming year. I can’t wait to see virtual reality in 2026 who knows what will be next.

Now when it comes to NFT’s and Blockchain There has been some controversy. Some of the biggest creators of games are intentionally building in tokens into their games as a way of letting players win, earn and trade unique endgame items. In 2022 it is likely that we’re going to see this come to fruition. Not the biggest fan favorite.

And then we have esports this is going to refer to the evolution of our video games to include aspects that are more usually associated with professional sports, such as live audiences, leagues, sponsorships, even tournaments and salaried players. Esports had an absolute explosion during the COVID-19 pandemic generating over $1 billion in revenue in 2021. This is going to show you that gaming itself video games if you can believe it or truly becoming a spectator sport.
