Is Jiufen still magical — or just another tourist trap?
We took a day trip from Taipei to explore two of Taiwan’s most famous (and weirdest) villages: Jiufen, the mountain town that inspired Spirited Away, and Houtong, the famous cat village full of furry chaos.
But what we found was… not what we expected.

Train from Taipei → Houtong → Jiufen (super easy day trip)
🎒 No car needed ! but recommended if you want to check the other cool spots (shifen, keelung etc..)
