Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Neck


The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck provides affordable, safe, and diverse enrichment programs for more than thirteen-hundred (1,300) youth ranging in age from 6 - 18. A daily average of 145 Lancaster and Northumberland county kids have found a second home within the walls of the Club.

Because enrollment continues to increase, plans have been in place to renovate and expand the facility to accommodate more youth and serve as a regional hub for the satellite clubs in our neighboring counties.

Tragically, on November 19, 2018, the Boys & Girls Club suffered a disastrous fire. There were no injuries and no children were there at the time of the fire, but the loss of the facility was devastating.

The Northern Neck community didn’t skip a beat when it came to lending a helping hand. In a matter of days, the club was operating out of a handful of nearby locations.

After the fire, it was clear that renovation wasn’t possible and we urgently needed a new facility. Demolition and rebuilding became the only option.

Local architect, Randall Kipp, has been involved with this project since the beginning. He and his team wasted no time getting to work on a new facility design - from the ground up.

At Randall Kipp Architecture, we are thrilled to work with the Boys & Girls Club, creating a new home for the club:
-vibrant, open spaces that foster community and sense of belonging
-breakout rooms for collaboration, art, STEM, and technology
-quiet spaces that encourage interaction between mentors and youth
-expanded outdoor green spaces for daily exercise and play.
-improved energy efficiency of materials and systems.
-enhanced improved safety and security

The “Building Great Futures Capital Campaign”, initiated in 2017 to provide funding for this project, has now passed the 95% mark towards its goal of $2.6 million. In this final phase of the campaign, the Board of Directors is looking to you, it’s Northern Neck community, to help match funding from the River Counties Community Foundation before the beginning of construction, which is anticipated for early October 2019.

We believe every kid has what it takes to succeed. It’s up to the community, it’s up to us, to provide a safe, nurturing environment for them and to encourage them to always, always reach for the stars -- nothing is impossible.
