Masking undiagnosed autism through preforming femininity

Being an undiagnosed autistic girl who was labeled as weird and quirky, I turned to my appearance as a way to hide my social struggles. Masking my autism through performing femininity was my coping strategy from middle school all the way through collage. Now that i am diagnosed with autism and have unmasked my coping strategies, I am much more happy and confident. I no longer subscribe to what i "should dress like" but instead choose what is authentically me.
