At this time of year we are usually gearing up for the start of a new live season but at the moment we aren't able to enjoy spending as much time with each other as usual. However, a few weeks ago we did manage to get together and record a few pieces for you.
Our first piece is the four-part chanson Mille regretz by Josquin des Prez. The sombre atmosphere this piece creates seems fitting for this difficult time and the poignant text serves as a note to bid adieu to times past.

Mille regretz de vous abandonner
Et d'eslonger vostre fache amoureuse,
Jay si grand dueil et paine douloureuse,
Quon me verra brief mes jours definer.
English Translation:
A thousand regrets for abandoning you
And leaving behind your loving face,
I have such great sorrow and pain,
That soon my days will be seen to be numbered.
